Departure -1day: almost there …

When people are asking us ‘How long are you going to stay away?’ and ‘Which countries are you going to visit?’. It’s always hard for us to give a clearly defined answer to those questions. One of the motivations for us to start travelling for such an extended period is that it allows us to keep a fuzy horizon in front of us. It allows us the flexibility to adapt to the changing environment we’ll be confronted with and make use of the input of our fellow travellers.

However, we were able to put up a master plan that should give you  a small indication of our wildest plans. We’ve set up a colour code to reflect the certainty of our schedule. Locations and routes indicated in red are the ones we have passed already (nothing for the moment). Blue shows you our plans for the coming weeks of which we’re pretty sure to complete. Everything in green shows you what will happen in the coming months, the big idea is already fixed but the details still have to be determined. The purple path on the very end shows you our wildest dreams for the end of the trip (upon this moment: cross Central America, party at Burning Man Festival, sail the Pacific Ocean, live laid back for a while in Australia, take the Trans Siberia Express back home).

We’ll try to keep our travel plan updated in this link.

  1. As I’m not so good with words as perhaps I would like to be, I’m letting my good old friend Mark Twain do the talking for me:

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

Maybe our life should not be ruled by reason, but by such dreams. I really hope you will find all the things you dreamt about.. and much more.
